Process solution in network services

Initial situation

What was the situation up to now?

Every year, BKW carries out around 700 construction projects in the areas of high, medium and low voltage and grid connections. The challenge was to consistently track the resulting 3,000 or so mutation messages, including all project documents, in several systems. The database solution previously used was only specifically designed for mutations in the NIS (BKW's geo Network Information System) and did not support the synchronization of data with other systems (e.g., SAP). In addition, the solution was technologically outdated and could not be further expanded. In order to obtain an overview of the status of ongoing construction projects and open mutation notifications at all times, BKW decided to digitalize the mutation processes and implement cross-system and cross-organizational workflow support.

What services have we provided?

We have developed a process solution for BKW in the area of network services. The solution supports the processing of mutation messages for electric line construction projects. This ensures timely and complete documentation of the new network infrastructures. The process management is end-to-end and guarantees high data quality in the end systems. As a result, data entry efforts and throughput times have been significantly reduced. Thanks to integrated document handling, access to project and infrastructure data is also guaranteed for all parties involved at all times.
