Professional counseling and peer support

Social engagement is a matter of course for us. Every year, we support a charitable organization whose work makes a valuable contribution to society. This year, our donation goes to ada-zh – Anlaufstelle Angehörige Sucht (Addiction Support Center for Relatives) in Zurich.
About ada-zh: An important point of contact for relatives
ada-zh was founded over 50 years ago by relatives who themselves were confronted with the challenges of addiction in their immediate environment. The association aims to relieve and empower people whose partners, children, parents, colleagues, or friends are affected by substance or behavioral addictions. The focus is on professional, multilingual counseling, supplemented where necessary by peer support—these are people who have their own experience with addiction and can therefore offer particularly authentic support.
Why counseling is so important for relatives
Consulting with ada-zh helps relatives who are struggling with addiction not to have to bear the burden alone. It offers a safe environment where those seeking help feel understood and receive guidance. Through dialogue with experts and peers, new perspectives emerge, sources of strength become apparent, and concrete courses of action can be developed. This makes it easier to cope with the effects of the illness in everyday life, while at the same time protecting one’s own mental and physical health.
Why we support ada-zh
What we find particularly convincing is the low-threshold access to help that ada-zh provides: relatives receive immediate support without long waiting times or obstacles. Equally important is the consistent focus on the environment of the person with the addiction disorder, which often takes a back seat in addiction processes, even though it bears a significant part of the burden. The combination of professional expertise and peer experience adds depth to the counseling and creates a support service that is both professionally sound and humanly approachable.
For decades, the work of ada-zh has made an important contribution to the relatives of people with addiction disorders. We thank ada-zh for their tremendous commitment and wish all those affected and their relatives the strength, confidence, and support they need.
