ServiceNow is fundamentally revamping its reporting and analytics world and has announced that classic Core UI reports and dashboards will no longer be supported as of the Australia Release (approx. March 2026). ServiceNow is now focusing on Platform Analytics.
What is ServiceNow Platform Analytics?
Platform Analytics is the new standard solution for reporting and data visualization in ServiceNow with a unified, modern user interface. It completely replaces classic Core UI reporting and combines various analysis functions such as dashboards, reports, and performance analytics. Platform Analytics from ServiceNow offers:
- Interactive dashboards with filter and drill-down functions
- Integration of real-time data from across the ServiceNow platform
- Centralized control of access rights and approvals
- Modern, user-friendly interface with high performance
- Improved compatibility with future AI and automation features
This makes Platform Analytics the central hub for strategic, operational, and data-driven work on the ServiceNow platform.
What does this mean for Core UI Reporting, and why should you act now?
- Starting with the Australia release, new reports or dashboards can no longer be created in the classic UI.
- Existing content will remain visible but can no longer be edited.
- Migration requires planning, cleanup, testing, review, and recreation.
- By making a structured transition now, you can create a future-proof analytics foundation, including for AI and automation scenarios. You will also ensure the stability and upgrade security of the ServiceNow platform and avoid a hectic last-minute implementation.
How to successfully switch to ServiceNow Platform Analytics
With the Zurich Release (September 2025), the focus will shift to migration. Although the classic user interface will continue to be available for the time being, it is expected to be replaced by Platform Analytics in the coming months.
Important: The switch to Platform Analytics will not happen automatically. ServiceNow customers are encouraged to proactively plan and execute the migration of their existing content.
ServiceNow provides the Migration Center to simplify the process. This allows content such as classic dashboards, reports, interactive filters, and widgets to be transferred to Platform Analytics—either per dashboard or in larger packages. Content that cannot be transferred automatically (e.g., certain widgets or manually embedded visualizations) may need to be recreated.
Evaluate early rather than rework later
A successful transition is more than just a technical export/import. It requires structure and, above all, clear decisions. We recommend checking early on:
- What will still be needed?
- What can be migrated directly?
- What needs to be adapted or rebuilt?
- What can be cleaned up or discarded in the course of the transition?
This ensures a controlled and smooth transition, especially with regard to upcoming platform releases.
This analysis is doubly worthwhile in mature ServiceNow environments: outdated dashboards, duplicate reports, or unclear ownership structures are common. Platform Analytics is the ideal opportunity for a clean reporting cleanup.
